PORT OF MARGOSATUBIG
Margosatubig is a newly created terminal port of Zamboanga turn-over by LGU catering cargoes and passengers from the hinterland of Region IX specifically Zamboanga del Sur and alternative port to ports of Pagadian and Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay. The main incoming cargoes of the Port of Margosatubig composed of various finished goods and products. Outgoing cargoes composed copra and other sea products shipped to Iligan, Cagayan de Oro and other neighboring cities and municipalities either through land and sea.
Margos is served with a port mainly to and from Zamboanga City, Olutanga, Subanipa and Malangas municipalities. Pump boats are also available ferry passengers and cargoes to coastal barangays and sitios.
Margosatubig is situated within the Baganian Peninsula in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur. It is approximately located at coordinates 123°7’ E Longitude and 07°27’ to 07°28’ North Latitude. It is bounded on the north by the municipality of Lapuyan; on the south by Vincenzo Sagun and the Moro Gulf overlooking the Celebes Sea; on the east by the municipalities of San Miguel and Dimataling; and on the west the Dumaguillas Bay. About three (3/4) of its total land area faces the Dumaguillas and the Moro Gulf which are considered as the municipalities natural fishing ground.
The port of Margosatubig has approximately 1,544.00 sq. meters mostly operational area. Waters in-between Margostaubig, lapuyan and portion of Dumanguillas Bay belong to the jurisdictions of the port.
